05 — Prixomètre
A dated price, or nothing.
Prixomètre.fr compares computer hardware by price per gigabyte, per watt-hour and per watt. This page explains how the database is built — not what it contains.
Short version: every price shown was read on screen, by hand, on the merchant’s product page, and carries the date of that reading. What cannot be dated is not published.
The state of the database
- 160 product records in 8 families — RAM, SSDs, microSD cards, power banks, chargers, monitors, e-scooters and e-bikes.
- 294 live prices across 14 merchants, all dated.
- 119 pages published, regenerated every day.
- Last full re-read on 12 September 2026: 293 prices carry that date.
How a price enters the database
- One path only. One command, and only one, writes a price. The repository accepts no other.
- The date is mandatory. It is the date of the reading, not of publication. A price without a date does not exist here.
- The old price is never overwritten. It moves into the product’s history: that is what draws the price curves.
- Two hard refusals. A zero or negative price is not a reading; neither is a future date — nobody reads a price that has not been displayed yet.
What the site refuses to do
- Invent or estimate a price. No verifiable reading, no data.
- Show a price without its date. An amount alone means nothing in a market that moves every day.
- Survey at machine speed. Product pages are read one by one, at human pace.
The re-read of 12 September 2026 removed nine offers: four listings no longer had a buy box, two were out of stock, one was on back-order, one was listed as unavailable, and the last one only offered second-hand units. One comparison page then fell below the threshold of four comparable products: it was taken down the same day and redirected. A page that no longer compares anything has no reason to stay online.
The build chain
- The repository is the database. One product, one file. No hidden database, no admin panel where a price could be edited without a trace.
- Eleven contractual invariants. A published page that would vanish without a redirect, a comparison below its threshold, a price without a source: the check refuses to publish. By design.
- 375 tests re-run on every change.
- Static pages — 120 of them, generated then served as they are. No advertising tracker, no behavioural analytics script.
- Continuous integration re-runs everything, every day and on every push: invariants, tests, types, build, dead links, performance, search engine notifications.
What the publisher guarantees
Prixomètre is published by K4sstoo. Its publication director is the one named in this site’s legal notice.
- Nothing ships without the publication director: the calculation formulas, the legal texts, opening a product family, any expense, any reply to an affiliate platform.
- Funding is disclosed: affiliate links with 4 merchants out of 14, labelled as such wherever they appear.
- The ranking is not for sale. A merchant cannot pay to move up, to get listed, or to make a competitor disappear.
The data is open
The full dataset is published as CSV under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 licence: products, prices, dates, merchants and computed measures. Reuse it, recompute it, challenge it.

Questions
Where do Prixomètre’s prices come from?
From the merchant’s product page, read on screen, one at a time. Every price carries the date it was read. Nothing is estimated, nothing is copied from another comparator.
How often are prices surveyed?
Every week, at human pace. On 12 September 2026, 294 prices were re-read one by one across fourteen merchants.
What happens when an offer disappears?
It is removed along with its reason: no buy box left, out of stock, or a second-hand offer. A cell is never left empty without a written reason.
Is Prixomètre paid by merchants?
The site carries affiliate links for four merchants out of fourteen. The commission changes neither the displayed price, nor the ranking, nor whether a product is listed.
Can the data be reused?
Yes. The dataset is published as CSV under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 licence, at prixometre.fr/donnees/.
